Authorities early Friday (Sept. 27) evacuated the area around a mobile-home park near Lincoln after a report came in of a possible pipe bomb, but just before noon they determined that the item was a piece of junk PVC pipe that posed no public threat.

An object resembling a pipe bomb was reported to be beneath a Dumpster at the Country Mobile Home Park at 11613 S. Wedington Blacktop Road, said Kelly Cantrell, Washington County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

The Bentonville Police Department Bomb Squad responded to the incident, authorities said. The bomb squad robot was being used just before noon to search the area.

The initial report that a pipe bomb might be at the site came from the trash company that empties the Dumpster, authorities said.
