SANTA MONICA, Calif. (CBS)– Officials say a small jet has crashed into a hangar after landing at a Southern California airport.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the twin-engine Cessna Citation went off the right side of the runway at Santa Monica Municipal Airport at about 6:20 p.m. Sunday night and struck the hangar.

Gregor says he had no immediate information on how many people were aboard or their conditions.

The Santa Monica Fire Department says it is responding to the incident, but gave no further details.

A plume of smoke rising above the airport can be seen in the surrounding neighborhood.
