Tailgaters at Saturday’s Arkansas/Florida game were met with an unexpected surprise Saturday afternoon when a small plane crashed near a group of tailgaters on the University of Florida campus.
Florida Police said the plane had been carrying a banner around the school’s football stadium.
Officials said the plane crashed into a truck parked adjacent to a field being used by tailgaters.
No one on the ground was hit or injured, but officials said the pilot and a passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. However, both were able to get out of the plane on their own.
According to a CNN report, the the plane had mechanical problems and attempted an emergency landing in Flavet Field, Fl. just hours before the scheduled 6 p.m. kickoff.
