The 18-year-old bank robbery suspect who was arrested Wednesday in Fayetteville received a bond of $50,000 in the Washington County Detention Center on Thursday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Zachary Porter, 18, was arrested near Wedington Drive following a short manhunt Wednesday.

Porter faces charges of suspicion of aggravated robbery and terroristic threatening. He was booked into the Washington County Detention Center at 9:38 p.m., according to the Sheriff's Office.

Police responded at about 4:31 p.m. to Metropolitan National Bank in reference to a bank robbery. Officers arrived three minutes later.

Officers were told that a man walked into the bank and handed the teller a note implying he had a bomb, according to Fayetteville police.

Investigators said the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and was later apprehended by police on Persimmon Street.

Police arrived on-scene shortly after the robbery and began searching for Porter. The suspect was arrested and handcuffed near the scene before being placed in a police car.

Sgt. Craig Stout said police didn't find a bomb and no one was hurt.

Porter, of Fayetteville, told detectives during an interview that he robbed the bank because he needed rent money, according to a preliminary report released by the Fayetteville Police Department.

Police are still investigating.
