A Van Buren man was killed Tuesday when he and a passenger were thrown from a three-wheel Volkswagen motorcycle after it was hit by another vehicle.

According to Arkansas State Police, Frankie King, 63, and a female passenger were traveling east on Highway 162 in Kibler just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

King was attempting to make a right hand turn onto Mays Branch Road when the three-wheeler he was driving was struck from behind by a 2013 Chevrolet vehicle, according to the fatal accident report.

The report states the motorcycle left the south shoulder of Highway 162, and both King and his passenger were thrown from the three-wheeler before it burst into flames.

The driver of the Chevrolet told police she did not see King making his turn.

King's passenger was also injured in the accident, although the extent of her injuries are unknown. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.

King lived less than a mile from the accident site.
