Area firefighters are on the scene of a hay barn fire in Springdale that was threatening to spread to other buildings.

The Springdale Fire Department responded shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Friday night to 3401 N. Mountain Road in reference to a single-story hay barn that was on fire at the location. Other fire departments in the area, including Benton County, were called to assist Springdale crews at the scene. The fire was contained around 10 p.m.

People said they heard explosions either before or during the fire. Firefighters said they don't believe there were any explosions.

Firefighters said the barn was unoccupied, but the fire was threatening another nearby barn, according to the Springdale Fire Department. That threat passed, and there was no additional damage, aside from the original barn.
