Hundreds of people made their way to Wiederkehr Village Saturday to celebrate and enjoy the 50th Annual Weinfest.

They spent the day touring the wine cellars, sampling different wines, playing games and spending time with family and friends.

"We love this wine fest," said Harry Louis Wolf, who has been attending Weinfest for the past 40 years with the Waterloo German Band. "There's never any problems here they just have a good time. It's about family. We love it."

The crowd, gathering to watch the grape stomps and other festival games throughout the afternoon. Some folks, even taking a spin on the dance floor as the Waterloo German Band played music.

"There's never a dull moment," Wolf said. "There's always something fun going on out here."

"It's just great seeing how many people make it out for our Weinfest every year," Al Wiederkehr said. "You know, we were the first winery here and I just love that people still come out and enjoy the day with us."

Wiederkehr estimated that last year they sold about 800 cases of wine during the festival. This year, he said he hopes to top that and send even more bottles home.
