Deputies arrested a Fayetteville man Wednesday night after he allegedly sexually assaulted a young teenage girl.

Joseph Dallas Harriman, 30, faces a felony charge of sexual assault. He was released Thursday afternoon from the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond after spending the night in jail, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the teenage victim was sleeping on a couch on Oct. 13, when she was awoken by Harriman, who then touched her inappropriately, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

The girl got up and called an adult for help. The police were later called, and detectives arrested Harriman following an investigation, the report states.
