Fort Smith police are searching for a suspect they say forced his way into an elderly man’s home and tied him up with duct tape as he ransacked the house.

A warrant was issued Wednesday (Oct. 30) for Darrell Bruce, 36, for aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

Police were called to the victim’s home on Victory Circle at 10:50 p.m. October 17. The homeowner told authorities he was watching television when he heard a knock at the door. When he opened the door, two unknown men forced their way inside the house.

According to investigators, the 72-year-old was verbally threatened then tied up with duct tape while the two men took various items. Bruce was developed as a suspect after detectives gathered evidence from the victim’s home.
