YCity Levee Breached; Homes Threatened

A levee in YCity has been breached due to recent rainfall this week. According to Scott County Judge James Forbes, the water is high, but is not inside any homes at this point. However, those homes could be flooded if Scott County gets any more rain here in the next couple of hours.

This is the same levee that was breached on May 31, when deadly flood waters tore through Scott County, killing five people. Both Scott County Sheriff Cody Carpenter and an Arkansas Game and Fish wildlife officer, Joel Campora, were killed as they attempted to rescue two women from their flooded home.

The county is still working to come up with the money needed to repair the broken levee.
