A Northwest Arkansas man died after a wreck on Guyll Ridge Road in Avoca. Dave Lawson, 58, was riding his motorcycle when his friends said a driver struck him head-on Friday (Nov. 8). He died in the hospital on Saturday.

Dave Lawson was playing "Amazing Grace" with his fiddle at a funeral earlier on the day he got in the motorcycle accident. His friends said he would pick up his mom every Sunday and play his fiddle at St. Vincent De Paul in Rogers.

"He was always on call. He was always there to help us out," said September Plattsmier. "He was just Super Dave."

Plattsmier, who met Lawson 18 years ago at a charity event, said the accident happened about a mile from Lawson's home. Plattsmier has a message for the driver.

"The girl that struck him, we have no animosity or ill feelings towards her, and we pray for her and her family, as well," Plattsmier said.

Lawson graduated from Springdale High School and was a carpenter. He loved to spend time at the lake and ride his Harley-Davidson.

"He was a safe rider. He was a great rider and was very involved in the riding community and local music community," Plattsmier said.

Lawson was a fiddle player who showcased his musical talents at Jose's and at George's Majestic Lounge, two establishments on Dickson Street in Fayetteville. Laura Rowden, who knew Lawson for 40 years, said he would play his fiddle like a "rock star."

Rowden said his mom, Betty, is overwhelmed with the response she's received.

"Betty's wishes were to be sure that everyone knew she appreciates all the kind words," Rowden said.

Lawson's friends said he taught them to be the best person they could be.

"We're going to miss him a lot," Rowden said.

Lawson is an organ donor and his friends said his body will be back home Monday (Nov. 11). However, funeral arrangements are still pending. He leaves behind his mom and three sisters.
