A stabbing suspect is behind bars after allegedly attacking deputies responding to a Pope County disturbance on Sunday.

Andrew Jefferson Lively, of Morrilton, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated robbery first-degree battery and interfering with a law enforcement officer, according to a statement released Monday by Pope County Sheriff Aaron DuVall. Lively was transported to the Pope County Detention Center and is being held on $750,000 bond, DuVall said.

Lively allegedly stabbed another man multiple times during a fight on Pine Ridge Road outside of Atkins. The victim was transported to St. Mary’s Regional Hospital by Pope County EMS, according to the Sheriff’s Office statement. The extent of the victim’s injuries is unknown.

A Pope County deputy that arrived on scene saw the men fighting and ordered them to stop. Lively then allegedly charged at the deputy, swept the legs out from under him and started wrestling with the deputy for his duty weapon, according to the statement. The deputy kept his weapon secure until a Pottsville police officer arrived and helped take the suspect into custody, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The Pope County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the Pottsville Police Department for their quick arrival on scene and their help gaining control of the suspect,” the statement reads.
