Bobby Portis Named SEC Freshman Of The Week

University of Arkansas freshman forward Bobby Portis was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday.

Portis averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 67 percent from the field. The pair of wins over Southeastern Louisiana and Clemson extended Arkansas’ win streak at Bud Walton Arena to 19 games, tied for fifth-best in the nation.

Portis is the only player to lead the Razorbacks in scoring and rebounding in the same game, with 16 points and five rebounds against SE Louisiana. He followed with 14 points, four rebounds and three assists in a win over Clemson.

Portis has reached double figures in four straight contests and ranks third on the team in scoring (11.5 per game).

Arkansas returns to Bud Walton Arena on Thursday to host Savannah State at 7 p.m.
