The most recent in a series of cold arctic blasts continues to plunge temperatures below normal we as wrap up January and move into February later this week and into the weekend.

In Northwest Arkansas, the monthly average temperature has been below normal for 3 consecutive months: January -3.2º, December -3.1º,  November -3.2º, October +.1º.

In the River Valley, temperatures have also been trending colder than normal: January -1.5º, December -2.3º,  November -1.9º, October +.5º.

According to the Climate Prediction Center the trend should continue at least into the first week of February with below normal temperatures. The 1st day of Spring is March 20th; meaning there are still nearly two months of winter left. Groundhog’s Day is just around the corner, too, but regardless of whether or not the rodent sees his shadow… this winter is shaping up to be more and more like the movie with the same pattern replaying itself week-after-week.

Stay warm,

Garrett
