With breezy and dry conditions as of late, several Arkansas counties (and one Oklahoma county) have had to contend with grass fires.

Such conditions have prompted five counties to declare burn bans. Those counties are: Benton, Franklin, Le Flore (in Oklahoma), Madison, and Washington.

Other counties like Scott and Logan had to deal with grass fires over the weekend. Fire Crews in both of those counties worked to put out a large grass fire Sunday afternoon (Feb. 16), according to Northwest Scott County Volunteer Fire Chief Donnie Adkins.

Adkins said that as a result of the fire, 81 acres burned, and several homes were threatened.

Stay tuned to 5NEWS for further updates on burn bans.
