The Fort Smith Police Department honored one of their long-time officers today in downtown Fort Smith.
Corporal Ron Scamardo is retiring after serving the department for 28 years. He has served in many positions within the department. Those areas include: SWAT team, the crimes suppression unit working with street gangs and the Drug Task Force.
Scamardo was also a teacher, training other officers on numerous skills, including firearms.
