Crews on Wednesday morning (March 5) battled a house fire at 3508 S.W. Carriageway Ave. in Bentonville.
No one was home at the time of the fire, which began about 9 a.m. apparently in the kitchen, fire officials said. The cause of the fire remained under investigation at midday on Wednesday.
The home received extensive damage to the roof and is considered a loss, fire officials said.
At woman living at the house came home and noticed it was on fire, officials said. She planned to stay at a local hotel Wednesday night while finding another place to live.
Some local hotels provide vouchers for people in cases such as this to stay in a room for free one night, officials said.
