With a chance to close in on an NCAA tournament bid, the University of Arkansas basketball team only put their chances in jeopardy.

Alabama beat Arkansas, 83-58, Saturday afternoon at Coleman Coliseum, stopping Arkansas’ six game winning streak and dropping the Hogs to 21-10 overall and 10-8 in the SEC.

Alabama hit 29 of 53 shots while holding Arkansas to 15 of 48. The Tide also out-rebounded Arkansas 41-25.

The Arkansas shooting troubles started early, shooting just 4 of 23 from the field (17.4 percent) and scoring a season low 16 points in the first half. The Razorbacks’ previous first-half scoring low was 24 in the February meeting with the Tide at home.

Up next, Arkansas heads to the SEC tournament at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta as the No. 5 seed. They will play Thursday against the winner of the 12 vs. 13 matchup, still to be determined.

The Hogs are still in consideration for an NCAA tournament bid, but need at least a decent showing in the SEC tournament.
