Fayetteville Police Chief Greg tabor announced today that the Fayetteville Police Department will join local and national law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates across the state of Arkansas for the 2014 “Click It or Ticket” campaign.
It stars on March 10 and goes until March 23.
During the campaign, officers in the state of Arkansas will be cracking down on drivers who fail to wear their seat belts, with a specific emphasis on increasing seat belt use among young drivers and passengers.
“According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens. In 2012, 73 percent of young people ages 16-20 who died in traffic crashes in Arkansas were not buckled up,” the news release stated.
