Free Storm Spotter Class To Be Held In Fort Smith Tonight

The Sebastian County Department of Emergency Management and Public Safety is teaming up with the National Weather Service Office in Tulsa to offer a free weather spotter class tonight from 7 pm to 9 pm, according to a news release sent out today.

The class will take place at the county’s Emergency Management and Public Safety Facility, located at 8400 South Zero St., in Fort Smith.

No preregistration is required to attend the class.

“A National Weather Service meteorologist will serve as the instructor and speak on topics ranging from storm safety to storm spotting, and storm recognition techniques,” the release stated.

Sebastian County is a recognized Storm Ready County. Story Ready helps arm America’s community with the necessary communication and safety skills needed to save lives and property before and during the event, the news release stated.
