One person was injured in a rollover accident on Arkansas 16 near Elkins on Friday (March 14), authorities said.

The driver of a paint truck was extracted from the wrecked vehicle and was treated behind a raised white sheet at the scene, officials said. Crews worked at the truck site for about an hour to extract the driver.

The driver was flown by emergency helicopter to a hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

The tractor-trailer overturned in a single-vehicle accident about 10:30 a.m. in east Fayetteville only yards from the Elkins city limit, police said.

A portion of the highway was closed temporarily after the accident.

Paint leaked from the vehicle into a nearby creek, but authorities dug a trench to contain the leak. The state Department of Emergency Management was notified as a result, an Arkansas State Police dispatcher said.

Fayetteville police responded to the accident.
