$2 Million Chaffee Crossing Reservoir Approved

The Fort Smith Board of Directors will meet to consider the approval of a $2 million water storage reservoir to support businesses at Chaffee Crossing.

The Fort Smith Board of Directors on Tuesday night approved a $2 million water storage reservoir to support businesses at Chaffee Crossing.

Board members passed the proposal 7-0 at their regularly scheduled meeting.

The reservoir will be the final phase in providing water system improvements to the growing development at Chaffee Crossing; a new pump station and water mains have already been added.

"Chaffee Crossing is developing with industrial and commercial developments, residential developments", said Deputy City Administrator Jeff Dingman, "In order to stay ahead of that development, we want to provide the infrastructure necessary to be in place before the development occurs."

The project is funded by bonds issued in 2012 for water transmission system improvements, according to Dingman.
