The Old Fort Homeless Coalition will come together today(March 18) at the River Park Events Building in Fort Smith to discuss how to better serve the area's homeless population.

Several River Valley agencies will be in attendance including area homeless shelters, churches, and volunteers.

"We're just trying to be prepared and tell people a little more about the campus", said Director Debbie Everly, "And this way they can be thinking of ideas. You know, how they want to help."

Everly said they need around $5,000 for the planned construction of a homeless shelter campus, that would consolidate several programs in the area.

Construction is expected to begin this summer and the campus to be open for business by winter of next year.
