The grand opening of the new Cedarville school-based health clinic was held Tuesday (March 18). The clinic offers optometry and dental care as well as physical and mental evaluations.
Under the guidance of Mercy Healthcare System, the old classrooms were renovated into exam rooms.
Cedarville Public Schools received a $150,000 grant from the state, and additional funding came from in-kind gifts and another $75,000 grant for dental equipment.
The clinic is open to Cedarville students, faculty and staff as well as immediate family members. Suzanne Roth with Cedarville Public Schools said the clinic opened last month, but they've already seen a positive impact.
"In our optometry department, we have, I believe he's examined over 50 students, and I know of nine that have received eyeglasses," she said.
Roth said the clinic will open to senior citizens this fall and will open to the entire community in spring of 2015.
