Children’s Emergency Shelter Receives Funding

The shelter, in Fort Smith, has received a large donation which will go towards funding a three-part expansion.

The Children's Emergency Shelter in Fort Smith will hold a formal check presentation today (March 19).

The donation will go towards funding a three-part expansion of the shelter.

Right now, the children at the shelter only have one room to study in and attend counseling as a group.

"The expansion project and the garage conversion will allow for us to have private counseling and private tutoring for these kids", said shelter employee Ashley Ahlert, "It will allow them to open up more and make the kids feel more comfortable, as well as keep kids local because we have these private options."

The shelter also plans to expand their gymnasium using the donation.
