A Logan County man shot and killed his ex-wife with a shotgun Wednesday near Scranton, according to authorities and the woman's family. The suspect is now in custody.

The woman's family identified her as 30-year-old Lora Karras.

"They're traumatized they witnessed their mom murdered by their father," said Karras' sister Jennifer Taylor. "The youngest girl keeps saying, 'I seen my daddy shoot my mom.'"

The woman's ex-husband was taken into custody by Logan County deputies.

"The ex-husband came flying through the driveway," said Taylor. "She stepped outside, and he just began to open fire on her. He shot her  five times."

The body was found at Rodeo Arena Road, and the Logan County Sheriff's Office closed off each end of the road.

Deputies said the woman was gunned down in front of her children.

"She was a wonderful mother friend and sister," said Karras' sister Chelsea Freeman.

The man arrested has been identified as Josh Johnson, 38. He is from new Blaine.

Authorities say that Johnson could be facing a capital murder charge. Three children witnessed the murder, a 15-year-old, 11-year-old and 9-year-old.

Karras' family said Johnson served overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq.

They said he suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome and his illness could have played a role in their sister's death.

The two youngest children were the biological kids of Johnson and Karras, and they are staying with their grandmother, authorities say.

The 15-year-old is staying with her biological father, according to authorities.

Johnson has been charged with 1st Degree Murder, according to court documents. His bond is currently set at $1 million dollars.

Alcohol may have been a possible factor in the case, authorities say.
