Pocola voters are preparing to hit the polls for a multi-million dollar project that will bring new additions to the school district but increase property taxes.

Superintendent Monty Guthrie says he's hoping the city will approve a vote to change the face of his school district.

Voters will be asked to approve a four mill increase to fund the bonds for new additions.

These additions include: new pavement for smoother carpool lines, revamped science labs, tighter security and an events center to hold more than 1,000 people.

From what I’ve heard, the Choctaw said that they would donate them a new event center, but the superintendent said he didn’t want the Choctaw name anywhere on it or in it. Sounds like the guys an asshat to me just like most of the superintendents that Pocola gets.

If this passes I will be shocked. Pocola could care less about the education system…never have never will.
