The slow movement of the cold front last night led to higher rainfall totals in Northwest Arkansas and a lower risk of severe weather than expected. Totals were generally lower as the system gained speed and moved to the east.
Officially, rainfall totals were highest in the Springdale and the Johnson area where nearly 2″ of rain fell within a few hours time.
A look at Rainvision shows us the narrow bands of rain from across NE Oklahoma near Tahlequah where nearly 2″ of rain fell to the much lower amounts to the south and east as the system departed.
Average rainfall totals for the month of April are 4.57″ in Fayetteville and 4.30″ in Fort Smith.
