A search is underway in the Clarksville area for a criminal suspect that was booked under a different person's name and then later released under the same name.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office on Saturday booked a woman that claimed to be named Candle Coleman. Clarksville police say the woman was taken in around 6:30 p.m. that evening on suspicion of disorderly conduct at a Clarksville park.
"I showed up after work. I drove an hour and a half all the way to Johnson County, and the officer asked for my ID," said Candle Coleman. "He goes, 'Yeah, you're not the girl I arrested last night.'"
When arrested, the woman provided the name of "Candle Coleman." Authorities say the woman provided Coleman's telephone number, address and even social security number, but she didn't have any identification.
"I was furious," Coleman said.
Coleman said she knows the woman who is accused of impersonating her.
"We were friends in high school," said Coleman. "I've been friends with her since she was probably 12. I just haven't spoken to her in a few years."
The suspect bonded out of jail around 8 p.m. that evening, and later, the real Candle Coleman noticed her name and information on the Johnson County Inmate List online.
Authorities took the real suspect's mug shot down and started their investigation.
Police said they have some idea as to the identify of the suspect, but she is still on the loose.
"They need to figure out more ways to check out identification instead of going of what people say," said Coleman.
