A Memphis man has been arrested in Van Buren for allegedly robbing two elderly ladies in the parking lot of a Hampton Inn and Suites, according to a news release from Public Information Officer Jonathan Wear of the Van Buren Police Department.

On Saturday (April 12), officers responded to the hotel in reference to a robbery. When they arrived, they were told that two elderly ladies (ages 71 and 73) had been robbed by a black male suspect in the parking lot.

The victims were reportedly walking out to their car when the suspect appeared holding a handgun. He said, “Give me all your money.” The women complied, and the suspect left without causing injury, according to the news release.

The suspect allegedly left with one of the victim’s purses that contained an undisclosed amount of cash.

Some time later, a Crawford County deputy located the suspect at a truck stop in Dyer. He was arrested and property was recovered, including the weapon used in the robbery.

Within one hour of the robbery, the suspect was arrested. He was identified as Marion Deandre Jackson, of Memphis, and was booked into the Crawford County Detention Center for two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.

Jackson is currently being held on a $50,000 bond, according to the news release.
