Hundreds of people came together Easter morning (April 20) for a special sunrise service at the top of Mount Sequoyah in Northwest Arkansas.

The Easter morning service began at 6:30 a.m., just before the sun came up. Those in attendance said it was worth waking up in the dark to see the beautiful service.

"We were up kind of late preparing for Easter lunch and so it was pretty early,  but definitely worth the early morning wake up call. It was a beautiful service," Lacey Gebhart said.

The sunrise service has been a tradition at Mount Sequoyah for over 90 years, but for some in the crowd, Sunday was their first time attending.

"It was beautiful," Meredith Euford said. "It was a beautiful message. I loved the music. This was my first sunrise service, and it was nice and definitely worth getting up for."

Euford said that after attending this year's Easter service, she will make the sunrise service a tradition for years to come.
