Texas A&M was able to rally late in all three games against Arkansas at Baum Stadium over the weekend.
On Friday and Saturday, the Razorbacks answered to win each game. That wasn't the case in the series finale on Sunday.
The Aggies scored a pair of runs in the ninth inning and then got a solo home run from Logan Nottebrok in the top of the 10th to give Texas A&M the 6-5 win.
Arkansas had a chance to tie the game in the bottom half of the 10th inning as it had the bases loaded with no outs but Texas A&M reliever A.J. Minter recorded back-to-back strikeouts then forced Eric Fisher to fly out to end the threat and the game.
“He came in there and got (Andrew) Benintendi with fastballs,"Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said of Minter. "With Brian (Anderson), he got ahead of him and the strike three call was a changeup that looked off the plate and the umpire was not calling it all game. And he got Fisher to fly out with a slider so hats off to the kid, he did a good job”.
The Razorbacks led 4-3 heading to the ninth inning but the Aggies got a pair of runs off of Jacob Stone to take a one run lead.
“Well you’re disappointed by the way it ended," Van Horn said. "The guy singles and they are going to tie it up with the hit. Joe (Serrano) tried to rake the ball since he wouldn’t be able to throw him out at the plate and instead of a tie game the ball got away from him and we end up being down a run. But we fought back and had a chance to win it once we tied it up but we flew out. We did a great job recently in making contact and driving in runs but we could not get it that last inning so we just have to move on from it.”
