Jeff Williams, the Republican candidate for Washington County judge, has challenged his opponent, Democratic incumbent Marilyn Edwards, to a series of debates leading up to the Nov. 4 general election.

“These debates should be held at various locations throughout the county so as to be easily accessible to the people of Washington County, and should be during the evening hours as these hours don’t interfere with many of our citizens’ work hours,” Williams said in a news release on Tuesday (May 13). “I would purpose locations in Springdale, Fayetteville and Prairie Grove, but other locations may be considered.”

Edwards told 5NEWS she just learned on Tuesday of Williams’ challenge and has not determined whether she will participate in any debates.

The two county judge candidates are unopposed in the May 20 primary election.
