Big Prize Barrel Racing In Fort Smith

One of the world’s richest barrel races is back in Fort Smith.

The 37th annual Old Forty Days Futurity of Derby for Charity is happening at Kay Rodgers Park in all through the weekend.

Rodeo competitions include all four, five, and six year old horses. Some events include Bull Riding, Bareback Riding, and Calf Roping. Contestants come from all over the country to compete for eight days. All contestants hope to win the largest prize in Arkansas.

"The first place in the futurity pays over $50,000," said Futurity and Derby Chairman, Christy Terry.

“There`s 425 entries we actually pay forty place,"  said Terry.

The final races will take place on Saturday night (May 26) at 6:00 p.m.
