JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) – The man accused of hijacking an Arkansas school bus last October pleaded guilty Thursday to charges against him.
The clerk at Judge Herb Wright’s office said Nicholas Miller, who was 22 years old at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to 11 counts of kidnapping and received a sentence of 55 years in prison.
The hijacking happened October 17, 2013, when Miller boarded the bus at a regularly scheduled bus stop and took it from Jacksonville to Cabot. April Kiser with Jacksonville Police Department said there were 11 elementary school children on the bus along with the driver; no one was injured in the incident.
After taking control of it, Miller drove the bus north onto Highway 5, with several law enforcement agencies pursuing him. Kiser said Miller saw spike strips deployed and pulled over near Highway 5 and Mountain Springs Road.
