North Little Rock Walks Off With 7A Softball Title

Bentonville drops 2-1 decision on two run double in bottom of the seventh

Bentonville was just two outs away from claiming their first ever softball state championship.

But North Little Rock stole the title with one swing of the bat.

McKenzie Escovedo's bases loaded double to centerfield in the bottom of the seventh gave the Lady Charging Wildcats a 2-1 win at Bogle Field on Saturday.

"I was just proud of my four seniors," Bentonville coach Kent Early said. "They fought hard all year long and did what they needed to do to get us in this situation. No, it didn't end the way we wanted it to and there are no words that I can say alleviate any pain that they're feeling but I'm proud of their effort and everything they've done to get us here. I'm just proud of them."

Bentonville took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth on a throwing error by North Little Rock.
