The victim has been identified in a Rogers shooting incident at a local motel Monday evening (June 9).

Rogers police are searching for a man they say shot the victim in the leg.

The victim was identified as Shawn Sims-Navarre, 40, of Springdale, according to the Rogers Police Department.

Officers responded at 6:33 p.m. to the Guest Inn on Eighth Street in Rogers after receiving a call about a man with a gun. Officers arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, police said.

The suspected shooter was last seen on-foot heading west. Rogers police detectives are actively investigating the case.

Surveillance video (seen above) from the Guest Inn shows cars pulling in to the motel's parking lot before several people started running from the scene.

Sunil Panchal is the manager of the Guest Inn.

"It's been a headache, I could not sleep the whole night," he said.

Panchal said the suspect and victim were not guests at his inn. The two men came to the location to meet with a contractor, Jose Alfredo, who is doing ceramic tile work on eight rooms on the back side of the building, the manager said. The victim and suspect were friends with Alfredo.

A grey Chevrolet vehicle carrying the suspect pulled into the inn shortly before the victim arrived Monday night, Panchal said.

The men talked with each other inside Room 141. The victim was then shot, the manager said.

Panchal said he tried to get ahold of his contractor on Tuesday to tell him not to come into work.

"The contractor has not picked up any of his calls yet," Panchal said. "He has not called back and he has not shown up."

Panchal believes Alfredo did not answer his calls, because he's still shaken up by what took place between his friends on Monday.

"If he's upset, he's not going to do good work for me," he said.

Police have not released a description of the suspect, but say they believe the man fled the scene in a newer model grey Chevy Sonic Sedan. The vehicle possibly has tinted windows.
