A Fort Smith man has been sentenced to 17.5 years in prison for transporting child pornography, according to a news release from Conner Eldridge, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas.

Jimmy Kinsey, 62, was sentenced to 210 months in prison without possibility for parole, followed by 15 years of supervision by the U.S. Probation Office after release for transporting images of child pornography, the release states.

Judge P.K. Holmes III presided over the sentencing in U.S. District Court in Fort Smith, according to the release.

On Sept. 20, 2013, The Fort Smith Police Department responded to a call from a family member of Kinsey concerning the discovery of some questionable images of children, the release states.

Later that day, a search warrant was issued for Kinsey’s home, and officers located numerous sexually-explicit images of a naked girl approximately seven years old, according to the release.

While interviewed by police, Kinsey said he took the nude pictures of the girl while she slept. He also admitted that he transported those images into Arkansas when he moved in 2007, the release states.

U. S. Attorney Eldridge commented, “Crimes against children are among the most despicable crimes that our office deals with, as they affect the most vulnerable members of our community. These children are re-victimized every time these images are downloaded or viewed. Our office will continue to hold the perpetrators of these crimes responsible and bring them to justice to the fullest extent of the law.”

“Child pornography is one of the most heinous crimes HSI encounters, and disrupting the trade of images that re-victimize innocent children is one of our highest priorities,” said HSI New Orleans Special Agent in Charge Raymond R. Parmer Jr.
