Police arrested a man Thursday after they say he fired shots in a northern Fayetteville neighborhood.
Jeshun Williams, 24, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center early Friday morning on suspicion of aggravated assault, possession of methamphetamine or cocaine with intent to deliver, illegal possession of a firearm and simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Williams remains in jail awaiting a bond hearing. He has a court date set for Monday, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Fayetteville officers responded at 3:50 p.m. to Adobe Street near Valencia Avenue in reference to the shooting. A caller told police a black man pulled up in a white Crown Victoria passenger car, fired several shots into the air and sped off, according to the Fayetteville Police Department. Officers soon afterward took Williams into custody in connection with the shooting, police said.
There were no injuries in the shooting.
Julian Fisher witnessed the shooting and said the suspect pointed the gun at him before going further down the street.
"He stopped like where those mail boxes are and put the gun out the window, pointed it at me, like he could have shot me---like he could have killed me if he had the chance," Fisher said. "But he drove down the street and shot more down the street."
Paul Watson was also an eyewitness and said he was scared for his family.
“That’s just not cool," Watson said, "But it is like a little bit terrifying, because you never know what people are thinking, or what they are capable of, so for me I was scared because of my mom.”
Watson lives a few doors down from where the shooting happened.
Terry Jackson was in his apartment when he heard the shots fired.
“I was in the house cooking, and I heard three little loud pop, pop, pops and I came outside and saw cars going and people running crazy," Jackson said.
He said the neighborhood is typically very quiet, and in the two years he has lived in the area, he has never heard of a shooting or criminal activity.
"This is a good neighborhood," Jackson said, "Unfortunately stuff happens."
