Crawford County Woman Killed In Car Accident Near Alma

A Crawford County woman is dead and three others are injured after a car accident that took place on Firefly Lane near Alma at 7 a.m., according to a fatal crash report from the Arkansas State Police.

Rilla Leakey, 62, of Dyer, Ark., was killed in the accident after she failed to negotiate a curve and crossed the center line into the path of a 2003 Ford Winstar van carrying three passengers. Leakey, driving a 2014 Nissan Altima, over-corrected hard to the right to avoid the van, and the front bumper of the Ford hit the left side of Leakey’s vehicle, the report states.

Leakey was transported to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith where she was pronounced dead, according to the report.

The three passengers in the van were also transported to Mercy Hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown, the report states.

At the time of the accident, the weather was clear, according to the report.
