Murphy the golden retriever was missing in the California Tahoe National Forest for 20 months, but he’s now returned home.

“We had heard the story, and there were bulletins posted, ‘missing since October of 2012′,” said Janice Watkins, who helped catch Murphy.

The Watkins family was at a campground less than five miles from where Murphy went missing, and the dog decided to pay them a visit.

Murphy stood next to their border collie, Trip, just long enough for them to catch the 5-year-old dog.

The dog was eventually returned to his more-than-grateful owners who were very happy to see him home.
