CBS News – Libertarians and liberals in the House of Representatives came together for a surprising victory in their fight against the National Security Agency, winning support for new limits on government spying, CBS News reported.
All this came just a year after leaker Edward Snowden’s disclosures about the bulk collection of millions of American phone records, according to CBS News.
The measure passed the Republican-led House 293-123 late Thursday (June 19) to add the limits to a $750 billion defense spending bill, CBS News reported.
The provision, which may or may not pass the Senate, seeks to stop collection of personal online information without a warrant and prohibit access for the NSA and CIA into commercial tech products, according to CBS News.
