Both lanes of Interstate 40 westbound were reopened in Franklin County, after a tractor trailer overturned early Monday morning (June 30), causing the lanes to be shut down.

According to Corporal Olen Craig with Arkansas State Police, the accident happened near mile marker 28 around 3:15 a.m after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

As of 5:30 a.m. authorities began diverting drivers around the accident on the shoulder of the interstate as they worked to get the accident cleared.

Multiple agencies were on scene, including the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police.

Authorities said the driver of the tractor trailer is in the hospital being treated for minor injuries.
