The trial for former Fayetteville police officer Jamison Stiles has been reset to begin Aug. 7 in Washington County Circuit Court, officials said.
Stiles, whose trial was scheduled to begin on Monday (June 30) before Judge Mark Lindsay, is charged with rape, sexual assault and residential burglary, records show.
Stiles was arrested and fired in December 2013 after a woman said he sexually assaulted her after handcuffing her and taking her home from a bar while on duty, according to police records and court documents.
When the rape allegation surfaced, the Fayetteville Police Department launched an internal investigation into Stiles, after which a former police dispatcher accused him of sexually assaulting her at her home, records show.
