Police are investigating a local death after a woman's body was found Wednesday in a creek near a Fayetteville Salvation Army.

Authorities are working to determine the body's identity and the cause of death, according to the Fayetteville Police Department. Police are not calling the death suspicious, and eyewitnesses said a spray can was found near the woman's body.

The body was discovered around 6:45 p.m. by someone walking in the area just east of the Salvation Army.

The dead woman was found face down in the creek. She had previously stayed at the Salvation Army, a Salvation Army official told 5NEWS.
