The Greenwood Police Department seized methamphetamine and marijuana, with a street value of $8,400, during a traffic stop Wednesday (July 2).

Officers stopped Emmery York, 51, and Valerie Sirk, 28, on Highway 10 at about 7:30 a.m.

Police Chief Will Dawson said the pair was stopped for several violations. York was driving on a suspended license and there was a warrant out for Sirk’s arrest.

York had what was believed to be marijuana on his person, according to Dawson.

A K-9 unit alerted officers to the inside of the vehicle and the front. A bank bag containing three ounces of meth was found where the filter should be under the hood, according to Dawson. Drugs were also found inside the vehicle.

York is facing charges of Possession of Meth with Purpose to Deliver, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with Intent to Ingest.

Sirk is facing charges of Possession of Meth with Purpose to Deliver and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with Intent to Ingest.

York and Sirk are both being held at the Sebastian County Detention Center without bond. Their next court date is July 7 at 12:30 p.m.
