The Fort Smith Regional Art Museum (RAM) celebrates its 66th Annual River Valley Invitational exhibit.

The annual invitational is a national competitive exhibition which began in 1948.  It features 52 works by 43 emerging artisits. The purpose of the event is to encourage and recognize professional artists.

The exhibition also aligns with the museum’s mission to foster art appreciation in the community.

All works from the exhibition are for sale.  Proceeds benefit RAM’s educational programs and the participating artists. Cash prizes and a RAM purchase award will be granted.

This year the competition was expanded to include a new category called “People’s Choice”.

First place winner of the exhibition was Dawn Holder, Suburban Lawn Iteration III, second place Jeanne Vockroth, Fathers, and third place Sabine Schmidt, Carver Monument Walkway.

The River Valley Invitational will be on display at RAM until September 14th.  The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday 11 p.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday 1-5 p.m.

Admission is free to the public.
