Construction crews are building a bridge over Clear Creek on Highway 265. There are barriers from Joyce Boulevard in Fayetteville to Don Tyson Parkway in Springdale.

However, local traffic can access parts of the road, with the exception of the section around the bridge. Some drivers think they can access the entire stretch of road since local traffic can drive through. But when they get to the closed section, they are forced to make a detour.

"I've seen a lot of drivers who are very confused," said Barbara Breerwood, who lives near the construction zone. "They don't where to go."

"They come and they'll make a U-turn and go back," she said. "They have absolutely no way to know where they are going. Seems like they are going right to where they came and started all over again."

Construction crews are removing the drainage structure under the road to complete the bridge. The work is expected to last until July 29th.

"It will take maybe a couple of days but they'll figure different routes to take," Breerwood said.

Hwy 265 has been under construction for quite some time.

In April 2013, the Arkansas Highway Commission awarded a $9.5 million dollar contract to DECCO Contractors-Paving, Inc. of Rogers. They are widening the highway to four lanes, adding a grass median and a bike lane in each direction from Joyce Boulevard in Fayetteville to Ivey Lane in Springdale.
