Teen Found In Shallow Grave Laid To Rest

The memorial service for Jamie Lee Plum took place Wednesday (July 9) at the Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

The teen whose body was recently found in a shallow grave near Rudy is laid to rest.

The memorial service for Jamie Lee Plum took place Wednesday (July 9) at the Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Plum’s Aunt Lindsey Dunn and his cousin Heather Williams reflect on a life taken too soon.

"He was only 19, so nobody ever thought that at that age somebody would be taken in the way that he was, so were thankful for everyone that has come out because they know the true him,” Williams said.

Family members want Plum to be remembered for having a good heart and as a young man who would have helped anybody.

Jamie was a good person no matter what speculations on what was said of the reason why he was murdered that was his girlfriend—she still was his girlfriend, I'm not sure if she knows but I think she's in Danville, so I assume someone's told her,” Dunn said.

Half-brothers Jonathan Bridgewater and Nicholas Barrows are being held in the Crawford County Jail facing first-degree murder charges after Plum’s body was found in a shallow grave near Rudy.

“Nick Barrows used to be really close with him,” Dunn said. “We actually found a picture of him in the computer when we were doing the slideshow he used to call Jamie's mom---mom and told her that he loved her.”

His aunt and cousin want the community to remember Plum in a more positive light as his loved ones grieve.

“And they're here to show that he was a special person, and were very thankful for everybody that has come out to show that they loved him and to lay him to rest today,” Williams said.

Plum’s cremains will be buried at New Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of the funeral home. Plum is survived by his parents, a step-brother and step-sister, all four grandparent and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind a niece and nephew.
