FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – The Fayetteville Police Department arrested a man on suspicion of attempting to run over his ex-girlfriend with a car, authorities say.

Tony R. Scott, 53, of Fayetteville was arrested after police responded to a call of a possible assault and battery case in the 1300 block of North Carriage Way, according to a preliminary report.

Police spoke with the victim who said Scott was her ex-boyfriend. She said they had been arguing when Scott became upset at the victim for not rearranging the vehicle as he wanted, the report states.

The victim left the vehicle, and Scott drove it to the end of the parking lot where they had stopped. He then turned the vehicle around and drove straight for the victim. She told police she had to run out of the way to prevent being hit, according to the report.

She eventually got back into the vehicle with Scott to get a ride home, and they started arguing again. During the ride home, Scott hit the victim on the left side of her face, causing her to have a sore jaw and cut ear, the report states.

When she got home, the victim told him to leave immediately, and he started yelling at her. She locked him out of the home, and he continued yelling before taking the car and driving off, according to the report.

The victim told police that she was “extremely scared” and believed that Scott would come back to the residence. She also told police she wanted her car back and for him to go to jail so “she wouldn’t have to be afraid of him,” the report states.

Scott was later arrested and booked into the Washington County Detention Center. His first hearing is set for Wednesday (July 16), according to the jail’s intake report.

He faces a charge of aggravated assault on a household or family member, according to the report.
